In the Serra Gelada Park and its coastal environment, the first maritime-terrestrial park in the Valencian Community, we find a simple route of great beauty and natural interest: the one that winds its way to the L’Albir lighthouse. This spot, located in the vicinity of L’Alfás del Pi (Alicante), surprises its visitors with a great variety of endemic flora and the possibility of enjoying some of the most beautiful panoramic views on this side of the Mediterranean.
On one side, the Mediterranean and the Posidonia oceanica meadows, and on both sides, pine trees, terraces of carob trees or protected endemic plants as walking companions: we are in one of the areas with the greatest biodiversity in Europe. L’Albir is the coastal area of the Alicante municipality of L’Alfàs del Pi, a redoubt between Altea and Benidorm, in the Marina Baixa region. And its lighthouse is the only one in the Valencian Community that can be visited, as it houses an interpretation centre that will tell us stories of fishermen, lighthouse keepers, farmers and soldiers: this is where our route ends.
