Visit Altea · The dome of the Mediterranean ·
Its streets treasure centuries of history and it undoubtedly has one of the most special historic quarters in the Mediterranean. Before the visitor’s eyes, a network of cobbled streets and houses with white façades, subtly adorned with palm trees, flowers and bougainvillea, unfolds. In what was once the castle of Altea, today stands the imposing church of the Virgen del Consuelo, the nerve centre of the town, with two blue glazed ceramic domes – a technique widely used in the Valencian Community – visible from all over the town.
